To see an exotic place with your own eyes, you don't necessarily have to go on a long journey. The nature of Georgia has taken care of everything - forests and waterfalls, rivers and lakes.
The unusual Lula Lake is located near the border with Tennessee in the Lookout Mountain range. The forested mountain here seems to have split in two, and underground waters came out onto the rocky surface, forming a whimsical chain of small bodies of water, streams and waterfalls. The emerald color of the lake water is achieved by a special combination of mountain rocks.
In 1994, a decision was made to preserve the unique natural landscape of these lands, for which a special committee was created. Today, a non-profit organization is responsible for preserving the beauty of this reserve, which always needs helpers - volunteers (financial support will also not be superfluous).
The reserve accepts a limited number of visitors, and only on certain weekends, so you need to book your visit in advance.
Swimming in Lula Lake is prohibited, but on a hot day you can enjoy the cool splashes from a large waterfall. To get to the waterfall, you need to go down a rather steep slope, along which a peculiar staircase made of logs is laid. There is also an opportunity to approach the waterfall from above, but few dare to follow this route.

Tips for those arriving at the lake:
- Entry is only on certain days (two weekends a month) and only by prior appointment. Don't forget to book your entry at www.lulalake.org.
- Be prepared for a fairly long route that needs to be overcome on foot. The way from the parking lot to the destination is about a mile and a half through a very beautiful park.
- For lovers of rough terrain, there are more difficult hiking routes in the park.
- Take plenty of water and sunscreen.
- Remember that by 5 pm you need to return to the parking lot: the territory is closed.
